Juneteenth, Is Short For June 19th & Is Also Referred To As Freedom Day, Jubilee Day, Liberation Day, & Emancipation Day. Juneteenth Is The Holiday Celebration Of The Emancipation Of Enslaved Africans In The United States Of America. The End Of Slavery & The Proclamation By The Union Army General Gordon Granger Formally Communicated To People In The Most Remote Parts Of Texas That Slavery Has Finally Been Abolished. The Slavery Ending Proclamation Was The Promise To African Descent Americans & Unified Americans That The Struggle of Becoming A Free Citizen & Not One’s Property Was Finally A Reality.

The Troy Human Relations Commission Is proud to sponsor the 1st annual Juneteenth Walk & Celebration for Troy, Ohio. The Troy HRC was first established in 1982 to address various concerns faced by Troy’s minority & majority groups. It was revived in 2020 to address concerns from citizens. Our meetings are open to the public. Please join us, as we strive to ensure Troy remains one of the best cities to live in America. Troy HRC.
Bring your family, lawn chairs, dancing shoes, & appetite! This event will be fun-filled & welcome to all that want to celebrate Juneteenth in the city of Troy. The Troy Bake House will be providing some very delicious cakes to share, while the new downtown Troy favorite Haren’s Market will be providing some signature foods that will make this a very memorable occasion. Dayton Bounce House will be there for jumpy fun for the children & adults who are still adventurous at heart.
Have fun celebrating Juneteenth any way you would celebrate any other holiday. Cookouts with traditional foods, to large event centers with music, food, events, keynote speakers, flags, & decorations! It’s best to bring awareness to the story of Juneteenth & how it became a holiday. Giving thanks to the countless people that lost & gave their lives so that we could celebrate our lives today together in peace & harmony, which we still strive to preserve today.
